Recently, a team of teachers attended the 2025 AI in Education Conference —Australia’s largest education technology conference. I’m proud to share that our committed teaching team continue to embark on their own professional learning journey, exploring AI platforms to enhance teaching planning, pedagogy, and student engagement. This initiative reflects our school’s dedication to continuous improvement and innovation in education.
The experience was both energising and enlightening, offering a glimpse into the future of education and what’s here right now for students to enhance their learning. From AI-powered learning platforms to immersive digital environments, the innovations showcased and reaffirmed the importance of keeping pace with technological change within our digital learning space. By embracing these tools, we can better engage students, personalise learning, and prepare them for success in an increasingly digital world.
Our teachers also attended the Light Up Your Teaching Practice with Dr Katie Novak in Brisbane. The focus was on inspiring and empowering every learner with Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Katie Novak is an internationally renowned education consultant, author, and educator with 20 years of experience in teaching and administration, an expert in universal design for learning (UDL) and has twelve published books. The workshop provided our teachers with an array of bright ideas to support the design and delivery of curriculum and instruction that builds learner agency for all of our students. Throughout the workshop our teachers were able to explore the latest UDL shifts, discover how AI tools can supercharge classroom teaching to create flexible, inclusive, and engaging learning environments that emphasise student-led workflows. This workshop included sessions where UDL in action was modelled and supported by ready-to-use resources to build more inclusive school systems and help empower our students to take the lead in their learning. A wonderful professional development opportunity that has broadened the scope of our capabilities as teachers and learners.
Thank you for your continued partnership and ongoing support for our school. Thank you also for your unwavering dedication and passion for learning and progress. Together, let’s make the remainder of this term a time of growth, connection, and celebration. I am truly grateful to work in such a wonderful and progressive school and I can’t wait to see all that we will accomplish together in the weeks to come.
